The Columbia Association of Black Journalists (CUABJ) and the New York Association of Black Journalists (NYABJ) will host Natalie P. Byfield, who is the author of “Savage Portrayals: Race, Media, & the Central Park Jogger Story.” Byfield was a reporter for the New York Daily News who covered the now infamous Central Park Five story from the beginning in 1989. Byfield, who is now an associate professor of sociology at St. John’s University, will share her experiences working on the story and discuss her new book.
