Averi is a New York native and recent graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication with a specialization in broadcast journalism. She is excited to be at home after four years in the South. Her journalistic experience includes an internship with CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, a fellowship with Dateline NBC, and an on-air stint at the nationally broadcast show Campus Dispatch on mtvU. She has won various awards for her work from the Hearst Foundation, Society of Professional Journalists and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Averi has been a member of NABJ since her first year in college and participated in the NABJ Student Multimedia Project in 2012.  Follow her on Twitter @AveriHarper.

Tommy is a broadcast student from Dallas, Texas. In Fall 2012, he received a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Florida A&M. Tommy worked for FAMU TV-20 as a live on-air reporter and completed a global warming documentary as the reporter, producer, videographer, and editor. He completed 15 course hours, working part-time as an apartment leasing agent, and interned at TCC Channel 22 as a multimedia reporter/ producer during his final semester. Lea is a documentary student from Miami, FL. Scruggs received a B.A. in English from Atlanta’s Spelman College. After graduating in May 2012, Scruggs took a gap year to travel, teaching kindergarten in Ghana and volunteering there with a women’s micro-finance group. After Ghana, she attended a language immersion program in Nice, France and attended the Cannes Film Festival. Scruggs has freelanced for a VH1 pilot docu-reality show, interned in CNN’s Newsroom and “Black and Latino in America” documentary series, and held internships in PR, marketing and film festival programming.
